Scott and i are expecting baby number two!

Here are the happy baby flowers we got from my work

Things havent exactly been straightforward this time though, which is why some people knew and some didn't. I got my BFP (big fat positive) on Monday 9 April, which was a couple of days before my period was due. Then that Wednesday i bled. I was gutted because i was sure that we had lost it. We still went out for a meal for Tony's birthday though, which was completely silly since i was sobbing and bleeding in the toilets. Sorry Tony! I went to the doctors a couple of days later and they referred me to EPADS in York. They did a vaginal ultrasound and couldnt see anything on the scan. It meant that i had either passed the baby or it was too early for anything to show up. They took some blood to test for my levels of HCG (Human Chorionic Gondatrophin - the pregnancy hormone). The levels were at 1497, which was actually quite high for how far along i was, but still normal. I had to go back 48 hours later for another blood test to find out if my levels were dropping, which would indecate a miscarriage, or if they were increasing to indicate a normally placed (in the uterus) pregnancy that was growing well. Or to see if they stayed roughly the same, which would have meant a possible ectopic pregnancy. This is where the baby grows outside of the uterus, probably in the fallopian tubes. Luckily my levels more than doubled to 3866, which is very reasurring!

We still aren't out of the woods though (like we'll ever be!). I have another ultrasound scan on Tuesday and if we see a fetus and a heartbeat then things are looking okay. When you see the heartbeat the chances of miscarriage go down to less than 5%. Now, this doesnt mean that i wont stop worrying, not by a looooong shot! We lost Zane at full term, so i am always mindful of what perils beset a pregnancy. There are so many different things that can go wrong, from chromosomal abnormalities, to congential heart defects, to cord accidents, to unexplained still birth. Not to mention getting Vasa Praevia again! Please keep everything crossed for a completely boring, uneventful pregnancy and a healthy happy baby in our arms to keep at the end of it all. Any prayers or good vibes will be gratefully received!

Scott and I went to the hospital today for our follow up scan and we got to see lil Vegas and s/he had a heartbeat! WOOT!

S/he is measuring 6mm, which is about 6 weeks 3 days. I'll leave all my pregnancy tickers as they are though cause they're only 2 days out. We are both sooooo relieved, but also mindful that this is only one hurdle and there are countless others to come. We got a picture, but it's not very good. The image we saw with the heartbeat was much better, but when she went back to get the picture she couldnt get it the same. I'm not bothered though, so long as Vegas is growing nicely in my belly i'm over the moon!

We had to go into the hospital again this morning with more bleeding!

I woke up and got in the shower and pottered about for a bit and then i got SUPER painful cramps and sharp pains in my belly. It was awful! I had to go for a poo, but after that i started feeling really sick and dizzy and i started to bleed. Because they'd discharged me from EPADS a couple of days ago i had to go back to the GP to get another referral. They were great though they fit me in straight away. I went straight to EPADS from Scott Road with Mum & Scott and i had a vaginal scan. They found Vegas all nestled in nicely and heart beating away and pointed out the fetal pole and yolk sac. I also had a small haematoma, which could have been causing the bleed. We still don't know what the pain was though.

The sonographer was lovely and i asked about whether the baby was high or low and she said it is at the top of the fundus, which is great. I asked about whether that meant that my placenta would be high up and she said that there's no way to tell yet. They wont even comment on that until the 20 week scan. She said that she understands my concern, but can't tell me anything.

We got pictures too and they're a bit clearer than the last one. You can see the yolk sac and the fetal pole better. I was instructed to rest up for a few days and see how it goes. Mum wanted to take some washing, but i assured me there's no danger of me overdoing it. This is ME after all! I dont need much of an excuse to do nowt! I may have more spotting, but i have to go back in if there's any more red bleeding. I can't cope with much more though, it's such a rollercoaster. Everytime i bleed i'm certain it's gone. It's horrible having to think about saving whatever comes out for them to analyse. I dont want to have to think about things like that. Ignorance really is bliss!

Okay, i'm going to be brave here and post my first few belly pics. There really isn't anything going on at the minute apart from bloat, but i like to have a starting point.

I'll mention this now so you don't have to. Yes, i know it looks like i'm being measured. I'm doing it this way for smoother animation on my belly montage. Yes, i know i'm a geek. I also know that i'm sucking it all in. You skinny bitches may take that (kinda) flatness for granted but i JUST had a baby 6 months ago and a big one at that. I have tons of 'left overs' If i let my belly go i look more like 6 months pregnant, no shit!

So, i'm going to try not to stare whistfully at my last early belly pictures and flat thinness. ::sigh:: Try not to think about all the extra weight i'm going to gain. Again. The roundness of my head to match my belly. The swelling of the feet and the arse. Oh and the sausage fingers! I love being pregnant, i really do. It's a magical time, but it's a fat time. It wreaks havoc on your body and takes aaaaages to recover from. At least this time i'll be breastfeeding (fingers crossed).

The next parts i have typed from my pregnancy diary. You know the kind that you get in your Bounty pack from Pampers? I filled it in faithfully every day. :o) There's not much room to write, so there isn't much detail, but it triggers memories for me more than anything else. Some of it doesnt really make much sense, but i copied it exactly how it was written anyway.

WEEK 8

10.05.07 - Booking in appointment today. Blood and wee taken. Feeling okay, but had to get up in night to pee.

11.05.07 - Woke up at 11.45 feeling really sick last night! Took today and yesterday off work. Went to see 28 Weeks Later. Slight cramps.

12.05.07 - Woke up in night with waves of cramps. Poo ones. Felt REALLY sick by 12pm and ended up spending 2 hours being sick and laying in bed! Rest of the day had stomach contractions. OK by 6pm. Pah!

13.05.07 - Felt fine today. Still can't hear the heartbeat on the doppler. Started taking my vitamin later in the day to stop sickness. Had bad round ligament twinges today.

14.05.07 - Mainly okay today. Got loads of spots on my face though.Still can't hear h/b on doppler.

15.05.07 - Felt a bit sick before tea tonight. Still no h/b on doppler. Vegas is 1.6cm big. :o) Baby is now a "fetus."

16.05.07 - Getting loads of round ligament pain now. Having crazy dreams too. Still mega tired all the time. Getting up to pee in the night every night. Still no h/b. I just want to hear it to know everything is okay.

WEEK 9

17.05.07 - Still no h/b! I'm getting worried now. I couldnt bear it if Vegas was gone. I need to hear the h/b.

18.05.07 - Thought i'd got the h/b today, but when i counted it was only 80bpm and should be double that. I'd picked up my own pulse. In my belly? I know. Wierd.

19.05.07 -  Still no h/b. Had Indian for tea. Mmmm. Almost fell downstairs. Dropped washing instead though!

20.05.07 - I heard the heartbeat! Scott was there too which was nice. I recorded it on my phone and sent to mum. I dont think she'll know what to listen for though! Ha!

21.05.07 - Monday. Harrumph! Can't find the h/b again, but now i'm not worried.  Got tons of round ligament pain! Our wedding party's on Saturday and i need something to wear!

22.05.07 - I'm trumping like a trumping thing today! Got addicted to The Sims 2 again. Love to waste time doing that! I'm peeing about a hundred times per day at the moment.

23.05.07 -  Another none h/b day. It only happened when Scott was here and i'm sure i remember from last time that we only heard it when Scott was in the room and talking. We'll have to try it!

WEEK 10

24.05.07 - Tried to hear the h/b with Scott there again and couldn't. I'm worried. Last night i had the WORST dream that i'd lost the baby and when i saw it at the hospital it was deformed with a huge head and one big eye and one long arm with a big hand and it was smiling! I was devestated!

25.05.07 - I was SO tired today at work. I could barely keep my eyes open! I'm in bed now and it's still light outside! ROCK ON!

26.05.07 - Tonight was our Happy Wedding Party. It was really good and loads of people came. I am completely shattered, but it's now just after midnight, so i'm proud of myself! Scott is practically passed out. Well drunk!

27.05.07 - Today i did nothing all day. I have to work tomorrow even though it's a bank holiday. Much to Scotts annoyance. And mine! My belly is already massive. My uterus is the size of a grapefruit.

28.05.07 - Work stuff.

29.05.07 - When i lay down my belly doesnt go flat anymore - yey! I'm getting my big ole belly back! WOOT!

30.05.07 - Heard the h/b again. Phew! It's our scan tomorrow, but now i've heard that i'm not even half as nervous!

WEEK 11

31.05.07 - Dating scan went really well. Vegas was moving on the screen and looked healthy. I am measuring 10 weeks 4 days so i'll have to let myself catch up to here again.

01.06.07 - I have decided that i'm going to keep my original due date. The scan is accurate to plus or minus 5 days, so it makes my date within that.

02.06.07 - Scotts birthday today. He went paintballing all day with Jon and i cleaned the house and went on the internet. Vegas is 4cm head to bum.

03.06.07 - I can't believe how much i'm weeing. It takes the piss!! Boom boom! I've gone about 15 times today! Should start feeling Vegas move in the next few weeks. It's the best feeling ever!! It's growing fingernails.

04.06.07 - Nothing new to report. Work was busy and i washed my hair tonight. That's about the extent of the excitement today. Scotts dartboard fell on me. Tried to book my scan today but they said to call back tomorrow.

05.06.07 - I think my belly's got bigger this past week. Booked my 20 week scan for 6th August. Also getting one at about 16 weeks. Appetite is still crap. Started reading Interview With A Vampire Again. Brilliant book!

06.06.07 - I fell asleep after tea and dreamed i could feel the baby moving, it was nice. Went to see Sally's new flat, it's lovely and big. I hope she's happy there. I weighed under 10 stone this morning! WOOT!

WEEK 12

07.06.07 - Ouch! Pulled my round ligament a good un tonight. That well hurt! It was supposed to be sunny at hot at the weekend, but the weather changed to rain. How rude!

08.06.07 - I can still lay on my belly - just! It's 10.20 and i'm in bed. I'm so tired all the time, i'm such a flange! Hopefully it won't last too much longer. Scott is fab! I love him.

09.06.07 - Am i feeling movement or just imagining it? I don't know. I can feel my uterus, that feels wierd. Got well burned today. Sat out in the sun and then went for a meal with Anna and Paul tonight.

10.06.07 - Oh my goodness my sunburn hurts! I am so stupid! I am never doing that again, it's too painful! Dr Who was awesome tonight. Weeping Angels are creepy as chuff!

11.06.07 - Movement? Not sure yet. I'm excited for it though, it's the best part of pregnancy. I'm looking forward to my maternity leave!

12.06.07 - Called in sick today and went back to bed and slept for hours. I'm starting to feel my womb. I can feel the weight of it and the sensation in it. Not of movement necessarily, just that it's there.

13.06.07 - Including last night and naps i have slept for 12 hours and i am still sleepy now! I'm getting heart palpitations as i lay here, but i think that's normal. Getting excited about having a baby here now! It WILL happen now! YEY!

WEEK 13

14.06.07 - Preggo brain has kicked in good and proper. I am officially a dufus. Baby is about 7.4cm long. :o) I'm going for a scan tomorrow. Yey! I bet she looks loads different to last time. More baby like. I'm excited!

15.06.07 - Scan today was amazing. Baby was mega active. I felt a definate poke while the doctor was talking to me. Torrential rain today. Nightmare driving to work.

16.06.07 - Feeling quite contrary today. Mum almost came home from France cause she has gastroenteritis, but she's staying a while longer. I can't wait to meet Vegas. I am so past ready to be a mum!

17.06.07 - Sky were supposed to install today and they didnt show up - twats! I'm still getting bad round ligament pain, but felt another poke in the DVD shop today, yey!

18.06.07 - Monday's suck. I cannot wait for maternity leave!

19.06.07 - My echeque still hasnt cleared for my intelligender test. How annoying! I need it now!

20.06.07 - I had a random sick episode at work today while i was on the phone. Had to hang up and run to the loo. ECheque cleared today WOOT! Test should arrive in a week or so. Definate 2nd trimester tomorrow, thank goodness. I got scared that my waters had broken tonight, i had to tell myself not to be silly!

WEEK 14

21.06.07 - Had to listen to the h/b again tonight. I scared myself again because i was leaking a lot of fluid. I could feel it trickle and i convinced myself that it could be my waters and i could loose the baby. The worry really never ends!

22.06.07 - Scott is steaming drunk! He went out with Ben and Paul into town and i stayed at Annas and waffled with her. It was nice even thought i wasn't drinking. I had a coke OOH! Ha ha!

23.06.07 - Lisa's hen do today. It was a laugh. Had to wear a sash and a big phallic balloon though. I need to stop worrying. I decided that i'm going to take counselling.

24.06.07 - Went for dinner with Scott's family today. It was nice. Had to ring the doctor because my cervix felt open and i've been leaking. He assured me that it's normal. Will i worry less as i feel more movement? I doubt it very much. Got lower backache.

25.06.07 - Went to casualty today with my leaking and they referred me to EPADS tomorrow. Went to a medium show tonight. It was a bit general. Said the baby is a boy who will be into drama and music. We'll see i suppose.

26.06.07 - Had scan today and they took swabs. Vegas is fine. We will get the swab results in 2 weeks. No idea why the leaking. Hopefully it's just normal. Vegas looks more like a baby now. Big nose! Ha ha! :o)

27.06.07 - I think i am feeling more pokes now - Yey! Work are being amazing to me throughout this whole thing.

WEEK 15

28.06.07 - Vegas is 4 inches Yey!I feel much better for being at home and being able to have nap time in the afternoons.

29.06.07 - Scott is huffing and puffing about me keeping the light on so i'll keep it short. Went for a curry with Jen and Phil, it was lovely. Intelligender says boy. We shall see!

30.06.07 - My hips are hurting. I hope it doesnt last. I'm feeling quite emotional at the moment. Often teary. I thought i'd love being pregnant again and i do, but i just want to get it over with i think.

01.07.07 - The smoking ban came in today. I'm so pleased! I'm back at work tomorrow. I feel better today all round and we went for a late fathers day meal at castle, it was really nice.

02.07.07 - I got another headache today. I think it was from trying to surpress the stress at work. It soon went away once i was home. Vegas is 10cm long head to bum. :o) He can suck his thumb now.

03.07.07 - I've got another bloody headache!! Just taken two paracetamols. Midwife appointment was today and everything is fine. The swabs from last week came back negative of all infections, so we still dont know what the leak was.

04.07.07 - Nothing new to report. Movements are getting stronger. I'm well into blue slush puppies! Mmmm!

WEEK 16

05.07.07 - Swivs birthday today. Went for a meal and it was okay. Got another bloody headache though! Grrr! Lisa's wedding tomorrow, yey! Should be good!

06.07.07 - Lisa's wedding was really nice. I got a headache again though. Hope this isnt a regular thing now! Vegas is over 11cm long! I'm really wanting to know what it is. Everyone thinks boy now.

07.07.07 - Went to Leeds today and got my Bounty pack. WOOT! Scott's lovely. I look full on pregnant now i think. My uterus is almost to my belly button, about halfway.

08.07.07 - Work tomorrow - boo! Scott cooked an awesome Sunday dinner today.

09.07.07 - My belly is massive already, but i can still suck it in. It hurts a bit to do that though. Vegas was poking me at work today. Aw!

10.07.07 - I'm really tired today and i got another headache all afternoon and evening. Got stomach cramps too. Send me to the scrapheap!

11.07.07 - Vegas did big moves tonight. He he! I've joined facebook, seems fun. Really need to wash my hair, but so can't be arsed!

WEEK 17

12.07.07 - Going to see Bill Norris tomorrow night, should be interesting. Vegas is 13cm long. It's annoying that i can feel my heartbeat in my belly. I keep trying to hold my breath thinking that i'll be able to feel the kicks better!

13.07.07 - Went to see Bill, a medium and he said everything will be fine with this baby and it's a girl. I felt a real definate couple of pokes tonight too, not just stirrings.

14.07.07 - Was at a barbecue at Laurens today and i slipped and fell in the mud. Landed on my side. It was okay, but i was muddy as chuff! Had to borrow some of Laurens clothes.

15.07.07 - How cool is this?! When i woke up this morning i was on my side. I rolled onto my back and there was a huge lump on the side of my belly where Vegas had got comfy in the night. I was all like "Aw!" and stroked it. :o)

16.07.07 - Got headache again tonight and i've started to get bad dizziness and headrushes when i stand up. Vegas is poking me stronger though. This will be worth it in the end.

17.07.07 - I've felt a bit crappy today in general. Tired i think. Almost halfway there though. I must remember to relish it because it is a rare thing being pregnant and so incredible.

18.07.07 - Had the day off work. Yey! Scott was late home cause a lorry was on fire on the M62. Loving the baby pokes and my belly's growing bigger, yeah!

WEEK 18

19.07.07 - Oh my God!! I felt the baby kick from the outside for the first time tonight in bed!! I rang and booked a scan for Monday at 11.25. Mum is going to come with me.

20.07.07- Jen and Phil came round for tea which was nice. Scott made curry. Yum! Vegas rocks!

21.07.07 - Bought some elasticated skirts today. Jobs a good un! Went to Bens mums 50th birthday party at their house. Nice house!

22.07.07 - Went to Chiltern Mills with mum and Sally. Felt blah all day and it turned into a headache by the night. Watched The Fountain. Wierd film. Had dinner at mum and dads - lovely!

23.07.07 - Supposed to have a scan today but they cancelled my appointment. I'm writing a formal letter of complaint to the Head of Midwifery. Not that it will achieve anything. Pah!

24.07.07 - I really need to get some sleep tonight. Only had 5 hours last night cause i couldnt drop off until after 1am.

25.07.07 - It's the conference on Friday. I'll be sober. Oh well. Got some little pokes today. I wonder when they'll get stronger and more frequent...?

WEEK 19

26.07.07 - Stayed up until midnight doing the music for the awards tomorrow.

27.07.07 - Sales Conference today. I won a commitment and professionalism award. YEY! Was in bed by 12 though. Ha! Next year i'm getting wrecked!

28.07.07 - Watched Norbett on DVD tonight. It wasn't that good. Vegas is moving loads now though and is 15cm long!

29.07.07 - I saw my belly move! I was watching Number 23 when i pulled my PJ top up and Vegas kicked and i saw it!!!! I saw it a few more times after that too! YEY!

30.07.07 - I'm so tired! A couple of late nights and i'm foobah'd! People are telling me i look big to say i'm due in December. Ha! They aint seen nothin yet! This is a cutesy lil pot belly so far!

31.07.07 - Swiv and Jacob came round for tea. We chatted about when Lynzi comnes down and got all excited! Vegas wasnt happy about my belly getting pressed by the desk at work and kept kicking it! Ha ha!

01.08.07 - I'm at the doctors in the morning cause i was seeing stars yesterday. I feel fine though apart from a bit of pain in my c-section scar when using the pedals driving.

WEEK 20

02.08.07 - My blood pressure was 100/54 which is quite low, but nothing to worry about, The nurse said i need to stand up slowly to minimise dizziness and stars.

03.08.07 - Vegas was cuttin some crazy shapes in my belly tonight. I love him or her soooo much! Please don't leave us baby!!

04.08.07 - Went to the cinema to see Hairspray with Anna and Serena. Fab film! Also saw Ghost Rider on DVD tonight. It was okay.

05.08.07 - It's my birthday a month today! Getting old! Vegas kicked quite a bit today which was lovely. The bedroom is far too hot and i'm going to find it hard to sleep. Going to start reading Harry Potter though.

06.08.07 - IT'S A GIRL!!!!! I knew it!! My placenta is covering the cervix though so i need to have growth scans and not exert myself at all! Healthy baby though!! :o)

07.08.07 - Bought a scrapbook, paper, embellishments and stickers today. AND lots of pink baby clothes! Hats, bibs, scratch mittens, socks, gro's, trousers and tops. YEY!

08.08.07 - Went for an indian tonight for Kari's birthday. Nice! Me and Kari are having a joint babyshower at Laurens on 28 October. How exciting!!!

WEEK 21

09.08.07 - The length is now measured from crown to foot and Vegas is over 26cm long! Anna bought her some gorgeous pretty dresses for next summer. I can't wait to dress her up. I want to get stuck in to the nursery too!

10.08.07 - Went to Jens Virgin Vie party tonight and got some stuff. Vegas did some big ass kicks tonight. She's ace!

11.08.07 - Oh my word! Lynzi bought us so much baby stuff!!! It's awesome! Met up with the preg.org UK girls and had lunch in York. It was a great day!

12.08.07 - Mum felt Vegas kick for the first time today. Had to jiggle her about a bit first though! :o) Woke up with headache again. Boo!

13.08.07 - Busy at work. Had a new starter today.

14.08.07 - Lynzi and Jacob spent the afternoon at ours nattering, which was nice. Then me and Scott read our Harry Potter books again. Vegas wiggled quite a bit. Maybe it was all the cups of tea.

15.08.07 - I need to remember to weigh myself again. I reckon i am about 10 stone 5 or 6 by now. I'll see. Vegas has been squirming as a write. Best feeling ever!! Can't wait to meet her. We just need a name...

WEEK 22

16.08.07 - Two weeks until Vegas is viable! WOOT! My belly feels enormous already. Especially when i've eaten loads. Ha!

17.08.07 - Mum and Dad go away tomorrow so we went to see them tonight. Mum had her hand on my belly for a while and Vegas was really active. It was nice.

18.08.07 - Walked round Selby and then round York today and it completely did me in! I was so tired! Stayed in tonight. Vegas wasn't as active today. I think i must have tired her out.

19.08.07 - Went out for Sunday dinner today and i ate dessert. I'm definately in the 'hungry' part of pregnancy now! Ha ha!

20.08.07 - I felt sad today. First because of work, but then because of Zane. I really will miss him every day of my life.

21.08.07 - Felt the tug of depression today. I hope it doesnt continue or get worse. I should be feeling happy, but i wasn't today. Maybe it was just a bad day.

22.08.07 - I felt much better today thank goodness. Looking forward to the weekend of course.

WEEK 23

23.08.07 - Oooh! 23 weeks on the 23rd! Getting loads done at work at the moment. Feeling sad that i'll be leaving too. Good weeks like this make me want to stay!

24.08.07 - Jennie's last day at work today. Got her an AMAZING Radley work bag. I was jealous. Had curry at Akbars after work YUM! Jayne got promoted today. YEY!

25.08.07 - Cleaned the house all day today. Kept having to stop and rest. I get so tired! Still addicted to Harry Potter. They're so good! Vegas jiggled loads today.

26.08.07 - Scott's drunk. Filmed him snoring though. Ha!

27.08.07 - Had a lazy day. Watched my belly twitching for a while. It's crazy to think that our little girl is just underneath my belly flab!

28.08.07 - Vegas didn't move all afternoon. It was a massive relief when she kicked after tea. Scott likes the name Lilly, but not spelled Lillie. He has a thing against names that aren't plainly spelled.

29.08.07 - It's funny watching for your belly and waiting for it to move, because even though it's you moving it's not you doing it. So you just have to wait.

WEEK 24

30.08.07 - Vegas is viable! WOOT! She measures 30cm from head to toe and weighs about 1lb 3 oz! Yey! I'm mega tired tonight. Was last night too. Must be the long weekend catching up on me.

31.08.07 - Payday today thank goodness. It's been a five weeker! I'm completely knackered this week, so hoping to get some sleep at the weekend. It's my birthday in a few days!

01.09.07 - September already huh! I'm at the other side of that calendar in my head. Nothing much doing here. I think Vegas is breech because the kicks are mostly low down. I dreamed i worked in a sandwich shop this morning. How crap is that for a dream!

02.09.07 - I had crusty nips this morning. Nice! Finally finished reading all the Harry Potter books. Now i have my life back... So... I watched loads of episodes of Smallville all day. Maybe i'm a tad obsessive with stuff.

03.09.07 - Watched a program about fetus in fetu tonight. It was really interesting. Scan tomorrow at York with mum. I'm not feeling nervous because Vegas is pretty active.

04.09.07 - Just been sorting through Vegas' clothes. She has LOADS! Got flowers, book token and card from work today for my birthday. I'm off tomorrow and meeting mum for lunch.

05.09.07 - What a birthday! Woke at 2am with cramps and had gastroenteritis. Great! What a shit day. Literally.

WEEK 25

06.09.07 - Felt better today, but not well enough for work. Still got cramps and diarrhea. I hope Scott doesn't catch it because it is NASTY! Vegas felt heavy all day cause i'm so weak from being sick.
